I am a psychosynthesis psychotherapist and have been practicing since 1991. I work with individuals and groups offering psychotherapy, constellations trauma work and supervision. My work is from a transpersonal, integrative and psychodynamic perspective and is influenced by 40 years of meditation practice.
At Fulcrum House I facilitate psychotherapy groups, which run three times a year, in 8 week terms, on Monday evenings with one full day workshop per term. The group has a maximum of 9 people.
I will be offering a Friday morning group from September 2013.
Group members often express surprise at the gentleness of the group, even though the experience is challenging. There is an emphasis on creating safety. We arrive at agreement in the group about what makes for a safe environment. Without feeling safe, it is not possible to fully enter into the experiment of looking into what is possible in relationship.
We meet ourselves first. What is going on here and now, in our bodies, our feelings, our thinking process? We observe where thoughts and feelings land in the body. This sometimes brings memory of early experience, when we lost our sense of ease living in this body. We explore how to return home to the body, to discover ease.
The opportunity in this group work is to be authentic and speak the truth, while being openhearted and available to listen to others. We observe the projections we put onto others and how we respond when others project onto us. Do we react out of habit, or can we be reflective and respond in the immediacy of relationship? Therapeutic work always takes courage and can only happen with the support and full participation of everyone present. It really is group work.
