Homoeopathy
Homoeopathy is a system of medicine that approaches health and disease in a very different way from orthodox treatments. It is guided by a set of principles (like cures like, the minimum dose, individualised treatment for the person) and employs powerful remedies with centuries of use (not needing to be withdrawn because of dangerous side effects). Treatment focuses on understanding the disease pattern of the whole person – physical, mental, emotional – so sessions are lengthy while patients talk about their various ailments (e.g. allergies, arthritis, rheumatism, skin, menstrual and digestive problems, migraines, anxiety, depression etc.) and I ask questions. Rather than palliation or suppression of symptoms prescriptions are aimed at stimulating innate healing mechanisms. As time is needed to allow and assess this action, follow up appointments tend to be at least a month apart. I’ve been involved in natural approaches to health since coming across meditation and yoga in India back in 1997. I’ve experienced and explored nutrition, Chinese medicine, healing and psychotherapy since that time and became qualified as a homoeopath in 2008 (British School of Homoeopathy’s 4 year course). My approach is grounded and thorough and I’ve also completed an additional 2 year course with the Greek master homoeopath George Vithoulkas.
