Integrative Body Psychotherapy and Counselling
For many people it’s a very daunting step to seek professional help with their problems, despite the greater acceptance of such help nowadays. I understand this and will do my best to make the process as smooth and unthreatening for you as possible. Starting sessions may involve acknowledging and exploring difficult and uncomfortable truths and it’s important that you select a counsellor or therapist with whom you feel at ease. I’m happy to discuss all this with you at length and if for any reason am I not the right choice for you I am willing to offer my assistance in finding other possible therapists or counsellors. One way in which I work with individuals is with integrative body psychotherapy. This has much in common with other forms of psychotherapy, with a special emphasis on awareness of the physical in the experiencing, containment and expression of feeling. The term ‘integrative’ is used to indicate that I draw upon a number of modalities for my techniques and theoretical foundations, such as the insights of Gestalt, psychodynamic and humanistic schools. I also use Coherence Therapy (memory reconsolidation and transformational change) in my work. Of course, to you as a client this may not be greatly significant or comprehensible and perhaps the main point is that I will use the best techniques that are available to help you. On a practical level, I am co-director of Fulcrum House. I am available on most days (and some evenings) with the exception of Mondays. |
